In celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday last week, Horizon Elementary students participated in a number of activities based on his stories.
In fourth grade, students got to ‘set into character’ and perform readers’ theatre scripts for their kindergarten buddies.

Recently Johnston Middle School ninth-graders were recognized for winter sports character.
The students were individuals were nominated by coaches and peers that are members of the pursuing victory with honor group to be recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship and character throughout their winter sports.

This weekend, Johnston ninth-graders in the Pursuing Victory Honor group volunteered at Kidsfest.
The students were charged with working the Dora the Explorer booth.
Dora during the first half of the day was Carly Kinning and the second shift was Josh Borwick.

Johnston Mayor Paula Dierenfeld presented a certificate to Johnston’s own Miss Iowa Jessica Pray at the Johnston City Council meeting on Monday.
Pray, an advocate for blood donation, placed in the top ten in the Miss America pageant in January.
